The founder of the Mughal Empire, Babur is most noted for his military prowess, stemming from the successes of his tactics as he defeated multiple opponents. What is not commonly known is that he was orphaned at a young age, and forced to grow up all too soon.
Babur’s youth was controlled largely by the ministers or wazirs of his father’s court, who wished to exploit his youth and run the kingdom of Fergana as they envisioned. But the young prince swasn’t as malleable as they expected, so in a moment of weakness, they staged a coup and declared his younger brother as ruler of his kingdom instead.
This displaced king was left adrift, and he traveled the northern regions of modern-day Afghanistan for some years.
